Around My Town

The mission of Around My Town is to inspire children to aspire to success by teaching the rich history of East Mississippi and its impact on the world. Maggie, The Steel Magnolia robot, greets you as you enter. Guests may climb to the clouds or into the cockpit of a jet in the Wings of Wonder exhibit, or help Oscar the Rooster fly to the roof. Test your skills at inflight refueling at our Key Brothers exhibit, defy gravity on our Bernoulli table, and make and fly your own paper airplanes and rockets. You can also enjoy a larger-than-life game of chess.

In our Wheels in Motion train exhibit, guests learn about the rich railroad history of East Mississippi. You can play music with Jimmie Rodgers the “Father of Country Music” or take a “trip” to a faraway land. You may load some of Mississippi’s top exports to the world and enjoy our train table filled with popular Southeastern destinations.
