About Science Saturday:

The Mississippi Children’s Museum – Meridian is celebrating STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) in conjunction with the Mississippi Science Festival (MSF) on September 18th!

These events aim to spark children’s interest in STEAM education and promote career exploration through a fun, hands-on event for all ages. Children will be introduced to real-world scientists from industries and organizations in East Mississippi while engaging in unique activities led by exhibitors.  

Science Saturday exhibitors & activities:
  • Anderson Regional Cancer Center – DNA-chain making activity
  • Algix, Inc. – Plastics: make a polymer activity
  • East Mississippi Electric Power Association (EMEPA) – Electric City: electricity-generating bike and circuit light-up wands
  • Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT)Environmental Road Building & Litter Prevention featuring Myrtle the Turtle
  • Meridian Symphony Orchestra – explore the science of sound
  • Naval Air Station Meridian (NAS) – ask an aviator!

With our friends in Downtown Meridian, we’re creating an exciting STEAM-centered day in Meridian! Here are more activities and events happening in conjunction with the Mississippi Science Festival:

  • The Historic Soule Steam Works annual Maker Faire Meridian | September 18th, 10am-5pm
  • The MAX science-themed Make + Take activity | September 18th, 10am-12pm
