Music Making Session
Join us on Sunday, October 22, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm for our Visiting Artist: Richelle Putnam!
The Sound of Music: In this two-hour artist visit, Richelle Putnam invites children of all ages to sing along and play an instrument with her, from the Itsy-Bitsy Spider, Kum Ba Ya, and Over the Rainbow to Elvis’s Hound Dog, Jimmie Rodgers’s Blues Yodel, and Shel Silverstein’s poetry put to music. Richelle uses a variety of instruments to share songs, including the keyboard, guitar, ukulele, and mandolin. The children choose from drums, shakers, and tambourines. Preparing for the next song, Richelle asks the children about the sound of the instrument, if the music is fast or slow, what the song is about, and if it is happy or sad. She adjusts song selections and interactions to fit multiple ages.
