Express Yourself

Express Yourself

Express Yourself introduces guests to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) by providing hands-on activities designed to encourage exploration.

  • Rhythm and Moves encourages performance arts with a stage, dance studio, jukebox, recording studio, and music-making room for guests to discover and hone their talents.
  • The WonderBox gallery will be MCM’s state-of-the-art makerspace designed for visitors of all ages. Visitors will be able to explore various types of making. Hands-on experiences are essential for making and tinkering, so our visitors will have access to a 3-D printer and pens, robotics, circuitry, building activities, crafting materials, and so much more! WonderBox will feature three exhibits to enhance the visitor experience, including a full-sized LiteBrite! Another component of WonderBox will be the display cases featuring amazing stories from the state of Mississippi. Mississippi has a rich history of innovators, tinkerers, and creators.  Some of those incredible people will be highlighted within the WonderBox displays.
  • WonderBox at MCM, which was funded by Entergy, the Institute of Museum and Library Services for America grant, and a Hearst Foundations grant, will open in Summer 2021.

Open a World of Wonder with MCM’s new WonderBox Kit! Get your children excited for MCM’s WonderBox exhibit by giving them their very own WonderBox kit. Each kit will include supplies and instructions for 4 STEAM-based activities that are sure to provide family fun for all. With our WonderBox kit you can you grow a hydroponic garden, search for hidden images, make color-changing slime, and fill your house with the scent of oranges with a bath bomb!

Kit pickup available at the Museum during operating hours: Tuesday-Saturday 9 AM-5 PM, and Sunday 1 PM-6 PM.
