DESCRIPTION:“Sleeping Soundly: Supporting Healthy Sleep in Young Children”\nWith Hannah Ford\, PhD \nJoin us for our “Play. Eat. Learn.” workshop\, on January 18! The Play. Eat. Learn. series was founded through a collaboration between Center for Advancement of Youth and the Junior League of Jackson. This educational learning series is geared towards helping parents and caregivers understand the complex mind of a child.  This program presents a wonderful opportunity for the community to learn more about the pressing issues and needs that children and families face from experts in the field. \n\nThis free educational series is open to the community. \nDinner will be provided (first-come\, first-served).\nChildcare is available for ages 3-10. \nChildren will be allowed to play in the museum with supervision provided by members of the Junior League of Jackson while parents attend the program.\nDinner is from 5:30-6:00 and the presentation is from 6:00-7:15\n\nPlay. Eat. Learn. is sponsored by the Junior League of Jackson and in Partnership with the Center for the Advancement of Youth \n \n \n

As part of MSF\, the LeFleur Museum District and C Spire encourage you to introduce Mississippi students to the programming language\, Scratch\, and participate in a coding activity available for all skill levels. \nScratch helps young people learn to think creatively\, reason systemically and work collaboratively – essential skills for life in the 21st century.  With Scratch\, you can program your own interactive stories\, games\, and animations. There’s no limit to what you can create. \nLeading up to Mississippi Science Fest\, please familiarize yourself and your students with Scratch through easy-to-use tutorials. There are even resources available for teachers. Click on these links to access frequently asked questions\, teacher resources and student tutorials. Then have your students create their own story using Scratch. \nOn Thursday\, September 16\, post photos of your end result on social media sites\, like Facebook\, Twitter\, Instagram and TikTok. DESCRIPTION:Join MCM for Food Lab on Magic Mondays at 3:30 PM! \nFood Lab is a scientific\, inquiry-based program that incorporates food and at least one of the five senses.  Food is a universal language for families and it is something everyone is familiar with.  Inferencing\, prediction of taste\, and observation by smell and sight are a few of the topics that we will explore. We will also reinforce the scientific method and bridge into some literacy skills like: sequencing\, predicting\, and identifying main ideas\, and details. This program is included in general admission.
