MCM Presents: The Girl Code

The Mississippi Children’s Museum new coding program is designed just for girls! Our hope is to inspire girls and provide them the tools to pursue an academic and career path that involves the rapidly-growing information technology and computer science field.

Join The Girl Code to learn the basics of coding and have hands on experience with our codable robots! The program will be every Wednesday for 9 weeks beginning April 1.

The Girl Code:


  • 3rd– 5thgrade girls
  • MCM members and non-members (members get a discount)
  • Maximum of 15 slots

Dates and Times:

  • Sessions run every Wednesday beginning April 1 – May 27 (9 weeks)
  • 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Price for entire 9-week session (includes snacks, supplies, and museum admission):

  • Members – $40
  • Non-Members – $45

Parents are not required to be present.

What to expect?

2 hour session every Wednesday for 9 weeks:

  • Coding content – 1 hour
  • Museum experience – 1 hour

Girls will be able to identify and define basic coding terminology.

Girls will explore coding concepts with the use of online software and actual robots.

Girls will have a safe space to explore computer science basics.

Girls have the opportunity to develop their teamwork and leadership skills in order to work collaboratively with their peers.
