Wonder of Wellness at the Mississippi Children's Museum

Wonder of Wellness

Wonder of Wellness

The mission of this exhibit is to help ensure the physical and mental health of Mississippi’s children by increasing their parents’ and caregivers’ knowledge about physical activity, healthy eating habits, and social/ emotional wellness. The focal point of Wonder of Wellness (WOW) is the brain because proper brain development is paramount for overall well-being.

Through play, children explore how creating healthy habits leads to the healthy development of their brains. This hands-on exhibit was made possible through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) as part of their Community Catalyst Initiative and produced in collaboration with 16 local organizations dedicated to the health and well-being of Mississippi’s children.

The long-term goal of this project is to increase the knowledge of Mississippi’s children and caregivers about child health issues, including physical activity, healthy eating, and social/emotional wellness, resulting in increased health outcomes for children and their families.
