DESCRIPTION:2026 SPRING CHESS TOURNAMENT\nJoin us for the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s Spring Chess Tournament on April 11\, 2026! \nSince school and community chess programs have been created and revitalized\, the 1500-year-old game has seen a resurgence in Mississippi. These tournaments are an important opportunity for children in Mississippi to not only exercise their skills\, but self-confidence. A growing body of research indicates that playing chess improves students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills\, which directly translates to their math\, science and reading scores. \nUnrated Divisions:\nUnrated Divisions will play 5 Rounds SS\, G/20\, d5 \n\nK-2 Grade\nK-4 Grade\nK-6 Grade\nK-12 Grade\n\nRated Divisions (Adults Welcomed):\nRated Divisions will play 4 Rounds SS\, G/30\, d10. \n\nU600\nU1100\nOPEN\n\nRegistration Fees:\n\n$25 Online Entry Fee for Tournament Participants ($30 after online registration closes)\n$5 Online for Each Accompanying Adult/Child ($8 after online registration closes)\nAll fees will increase for day-of participants.\nAll entry fees include access to all museum exhibits for the duration of the event\n\nPre-registration is recommended & appreciated. Players in these divisions must have USChess Membership. Membership sign-ups will be available on-site and on their website. \n\n6th Grade\n7th Grade\n8th Grade\n9th Grade\n10th Grade\n11th Grade\n12th Grade\n\nRegistration Fees:\n\n$30 Entry Fee for Tournament Participants until October 1st (For both MCM Members & Non-Members). Please note that on-site day of registration is $40. \n$8 for Each Accompanying Adult/Child (Free for MCM Members). Please note that on-site day of registration for accompanying Adult/Child is $13. \nAll fees will increase for day-of participants.\nAll entry fees include access to all museum exhibits for the duration of the event\n\nPre-registration is recommended & appreciated. Check-in and on-site registration will be available from 8:15am – 9:15am. Walk-ins are welcome!
