DESCRIPTION:Knights at the Museum Chess Tournament\nJoin us for the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s Knights at the Museum Chess Tournament on March 14\, 2025! \nSince school and community chess programs have been created and revitalized\, the 1500-year-old game has seen a resurgence in Mississippi. These tournaments are an important opportunity for children in Mississippi to not only exercise their skills\, but self-confidence. A growing body of research indicates that playing chess improves students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills\, which directly translates to their math\, science and reading scores. \nUnrated Divisions:\n\nK-2\nK-4\nK-8\nK-12\n\nRegistration Fees:\n\n$20 Entry Fee per Tournament Participant (For both MCM Members & Non-Members)\n$8 per Accompanying Adult/Child (Free for MCM Members)\nAll fees will increase by $5 for walk-in registrants\nOnline registration closes on March 12 at 12:00pm\nAll entry fees include access to all museum exhibits during the event only\nAdults can attend the chess tournament for no charge\, as long as they are not entering the museum.\n\nPre-registration is recommended & appreciated. Check-in and on-site registration will be available from 5:00pm – 5:30pm. Walk-in registration will be cash-only. Please note that seats are limited and available on a first-come\, first-served basis\, so we highly recommend pre-registering. \nRounds:\n\nFirst round begins at 5:30pm\nEveryone will play 4 rounds\, G/10+3. No eliminations.\nChess sets (board/pieces/clocks) will be provided for use during the tournament.\n\nAwards:\n\n\n\n\nAwards will go to the top 3 players in each division\nAwards will be given at 7:30pm\n\n\n\n\nQuestions?
