Join us every Friday at 10:00am as we learn about the many career fields within agriculture and the important role it plays in our daily lives. Each week we will explore a different aspect of agriculture while incorporating our STEAM\, Mississippi heritage\, and health initiatives. We will cover beekeeping\, growing produce\, the chemistry of food\, veterinary medicine\, farming\, irrigation\, the water cycle\, forestry\, fishing\, and much more! \nDon’t miss out on Farm Bureau Friday! DESCRIPTION:Rooks N’ Reindeer Chess Tournament\nJoin us for the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s Rooks n’ Reindeer Chess Tournament on Friday\, December 19th! \nSince school and community chess programs have been created and revitalized\, the 1500-year-old game has seen a resurgence in Mississippi. These tournaments are an important opportunity for children in Mississippi to not only exercise their skills\, but self-confidence. A growing body of research indicates that playing chess improves students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills\, which directly translates to their math\, science and reading scores. \nAll Divisions are Unrated:\n\nK-2\nK-4\nK-6\nK-12\n\nRegistration Fees:\n\n$15 Entry Fee for Tournament Participants (For both MCM Members & Non-Members)\n$8 for Each Accompanying Adult/Child (Free for MCM Members)\nAll fees will increase by $5 for day-of participants\nPlease Note: Only cash will be accepted for walk-ins*\nAll entry fees include access to all museum exhibits during the event only\n\nPre-registration is recommended & appreciated. Check-in and on-site registration will be available from 5:00pm – 5:30pm. Walk-ins are welcome! Please note that seats are limited and available on a first-come\, first-served basis\, so we highly recommend pre-registering. \nRounds:\n\nFirst Round starts at 5:30pm\nEveryone will play 4 rounds\, G/10+3.
