DESCRIPTION:Scholastic Chess Tournament \nJoin us on Saturday\, April 25\, for the Mississippi Children’s Museum – Meridian’s Scholastic Chess Tournament!  \nSince school and community chess programs have been created and revitalized\, the 1500-year-old game has seen a resurgence in Mississippi. These tournaments are an important opportunity for children in Mississippi to exercise not only their skills but self-confidence. A growing body of research indicates that playing chess improves students’ problem-solving and critical thinking skills\, which directly translates to their math\, science\, and reading scores. \nGrade Unrated Divisions:\n\nK-2\nK-4\nK-7\nK-12\n\nRated Divisions: (All Ages Welcome)\n\nU500\nU900\nOPEN\n\nFees:\n\n$20 Entry Fee for Tournament Participants\n$5 for Each Accompanying Adult/Child\nAll entry fees include access to all museum exhibits for the day\nAll entry fees increase by $5 for day-of registrants\n\nPre-registration is recommended & appreciated. Check-in and on-site registration will be available from 9 AM – 10 AM. Online Registration closes on Apr. 22. She is a Mixed Media artist currently exploring metalsmithing and lapidary arts designing and forging artisan jewelry.
