The Inspire a Child Annual Fund provides critical funding for museum operations including ongoing exhibit and program needs. Currently, admission sales only account for about 29% of the museum’s overall operating budget. The museum’s operating costs, which stand at approximately $15 per person, far exceed the amount charged for admission for visitors ($10) and students on field trips ($5). It is a priority for MCM to keep the cost of admission low because we firmly believe this investment is vital in reaching children from all backgrounds and encouraging them to discover and achieve their potential. MCM relies on the generosity of donors to be able to provide the most unparalleled experiences imaginable!
The Build.Play.Grow. campaign was established to support MCM’s project to provide our community with an innovative, educational, engaging, and nature-based experience—the Literacy Garden which opened in June 2014. The goal was to build an innovative outdoor space, to connect children to literacy and learning through active outdoor play, and grow MCM’s capacity and sustainability. Just as we must continue tending the Literacy Garden, we also have not reached our $2.8 million goal. We are 85% funded but are not quite there yet. You can be a part of our journey to create a world of wonder, enchantment and adventure for Mississippi’s children by donating today.
The forget-me-not flower is often given as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love. The Junior League of Jackson (JLJ) established the Forget-Me-Not Fund, a building reserve fund, to ensure that the Mississippi Children’s Museum will endure as an educational and inspirational resource for generations of children to come. The Forget-Me-Not Fund enables MCM to maintain our treasured exhibits now and into the future and continue in our mission of encouraging children to learn through play.
