MCM’s health and nutrition gallery, Healthy Fun, demonstrates how body systems work, encourages physical activity, and explores different kinds of food options. The museum partnered with health experts, educators, and advisers to create exhibits about the human skeletal structure and gastrointestinal system. These exhibits explicitly show how food and exercise affect a child’s growth and development. Each exhibit also incorporates an active component—an obstacle course, bike riding, climbing—as well as interactive activities.
In addition, visitors are introduced to simple, fun, and rewarding ways to make better, more nutritious food choices, including picking fresh ingredients and eating a variety of foods to achieve a balanced diet. MCM’s goal is to introduce children to small changes they can implement now which will make big differences later on so they can grow up to be healthy and strong.
